November 8 – 10, 2012The Center for Latin American Studies and the University of Miami School of Architecture are co-sponsors of this symposium, which focuses on the realities, challenges, and lessons of informal cities as they are found in Latin America and the Caribbean: undocumented “off-the-map” urban communities that are beyond the reach of the law, government services, and infrastructure, yet show surprising resilience and vitality and could hold lessons for global development efforts.
