Dear Colleagues:
I want to share with you some exciting news—last night we launched Momentum2: The Breakthrough Campaign for the University of Miami.
Momentum2’s ambitious $1.6 billion fundraising goal builds on the success of Momentum: The Campaign for the University of Miami, which raised $1.4 billion and helped propel the University into the top tier of American research universities. Over the next four years, this bold initiative will secure the resources to fund new student scholarships, enhance the undergraduate experience, secure endowed chairs and professorships, support groundbreaking research, promote leading-edge health care, and build world-class facilities.
Over the past four years we have been in the "silent phase" of the campaign—and we're already 56.6 percent toward our goal with $906 million committed, including a $100 million lead gift from the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation to the University of Miami Diabetes Research Institute. This phenomenal feat is the result of more than 94,000 donors, including $138 million given by alumni, who are helping to make UM history.
I am very proud of our accomplishments in all areas of endeavor. Our students and alumni are thriving, demonstrating the lifelong impact of receiving a first-rate education. Our contributions to the community help promote greater prosperity and well-being. We couldn’t do what we do so amazingly well without you. We are who we are because of you—our talented, innovative, and dedicated faculty and staff. Your devotion to excellence is a hallmark of the U brand. Thank you!
