To the University of Miami Community:
The national presidential election spotlight once again returns to the University of Miami when we welcome back President Barack Obama to the BankUnited Center tomorrow, Thursday, October 11, for a grassroots re-election campaign rally. While this is not a University event, we are providing a very important public service to our South Florida community at large as thousands will be attending this free Obama for America event on our Coral Gables campus.
As the host venue, UM had the opportunity to distribute tickets to thousands of students, faculty, and staff from all campuses. As with large events at the BUC, careful planning and greater flexibility is needed to accommodate traffic and parking around campus. We’ve prepared accordingly as outlined in the campus parking advisory that went out university-wide earlier this afternoon.
With visits from both Governor Mitt Romney and President Obama last month, I’ve heard from so many people, especially students, who have been thrilled to hear the presidential candidates speak in person. This only happens once every four years, and the University of Miami community has been able to participate, front and center, in this exciting part of the American electoral process.
So whether you’re attending the rally tomorrow or headed to class or traveling to and from campus, I appreciate your cooperation and your patience in the best ‘Canes spirit.
P.S. We are waiting to hear from Governor Romney's campaign to see if he will come back. |
