Dear Colleagues:

As the year draws to a close and we prepare for the holidays, this special season stands out as a time of openings. We open presents, we open our homes, we open our hearts, and with the flip of a calendar page on January 1, we open ourselves up to new possibilities in our lives.

I love the thrill of expectation—what will the new year bring? But it’s the energy of new possibilities—the what ifs and the why nots—that help make the most of all we have.

That’s the essence of what we do at the University of Miami, thanks to your inspired and dedicated efforts throughout the year. We make the seemingly impossible possible.

I am truly grateful for our University of Miami family, all we have accomplished, and all we will continue to accomplish together.

We have 366 days in 2012 (don’t forget it’s a leap year!) to transform possibility into opportunity. Let’s make it a great year!
