Faculty and staff invited to attend select Global Business Forum sessions at no cost
The stage is set for the University of Miami Global Business Forum, January 12-14, which will feature top business and government leaders such as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and General Electric Chairman and CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt. UM faculty and staff who have not registered for the entire three-day forum are invited to attend select sessions at no cost. Distinguished Speaker Series lecture to address human imaging technologies used to evaluate diseases
The College of Engineering’s Distinguished Speaker Series continues on Tuesday, January 18 with a lecture by Thomas F. Budinger, a member of both the prestigious Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Engineering, who will speak on molecular imaging methods of emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy to evaluate Alzheimer’s disease, drug addiction, atherosclerosis, heart failure, and breast and prostate cancer. | more |

Registration for the 2nd Annual 'Canes Biggest Loser and the 7th Annual Walking ’Canes is now open. Employees can register for one or both of the programs. Cheer on the women’s basketball team at the next Employee Day Game, January 16
The Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team is off to its best start in school history, and the squad wants you to be a part of their historic season. UM is pleased to announce that the Women’s Basketball Employee Day Game, presented by Verizon Wireless, will take place on Sunday, January 16 at 1 p.m. at BankUnited Center when the Hurricanes take on the Boston College Eagles. Eligible employees will receive one (1) complimentary ticket and have the opportunity to purchase up to three (3) additional tickets for only $1 each. | more
Bailey, Hankerson to play in 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl
University of Miami defensive end Allen Bailey and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson have been invited to participate in the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, on January 29. The game is premier showcase for senior NFL talent, and both Bailey and Hankerson are projected to be high draft picks. | more |

A partnership for kids’ sake
Junior League of Miami volunteers have a special bond with the babies and toddlers at the University of Miami Department of Psychology’s Linda Ray Intervention Center, providing enhanced music activities to the children and hands-on classroom support to center staff on a weekly basis during the school year. Over the holiday period, a collaborative project between the center and Junior League of Miami provided musical instruments, music CDs, and materials to the children that could not otherwise have been purchased.
