Longest-running electronic music festival in the U.S. coming to UM
The Frost School of Music has been selected to host the 26th Annual Festival and Conference of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, an event that will feature some 14 concerts, sound installations, papers, and two special multimedia listening rooms from January 20-22, with performances taking place at the Gusman Concert Hall and Clarke Recital Hall. | more |

Lowe Art Museum to host curator lecture for African art exhibition
The Lowe Art Museum will host a curator lecture for its Useable Art: African Aesthetics in Daily Life exhibition on Sunday, January 16 at 2 p.m. at the Lowe. The lecture by Marcilene Keeling Wittmer, emeritus professor of art history at the University of Miami, will review the Lowe’s extensive holdings of African art, which include not only ceremonial masks and ritual figures but also many objects made for use in daily life. | more

Visitors explore artwork at the Beaux Arts Festival of Art, held January 8-9 on the grounds of the Lowe Art Museum on the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus. The 60th annual festival, recognized as one of the top outdoor exhibits of museum-quality fine art in the nation, featured works in ten mediums. Thousands of people attended the two-day event, meeting exhibiting artists, sampling cuisine, and enjoying live entertainment. | more |
