UM and FIU Launch the Miami Consortium
The Latin American and Caribbean Center at Florida International University and the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Miami have launched the Miami Consortium, a joint initiative that will promote research and stimulate public awareness of all aspects of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as relations with the United States and countries outside the Western Hemisphere. | more

UM Has Another Successful United Way Campaign, Raising $1.2 Million
Significant increases in unrestricted giving and money raised from efforts such as silent auctions, raffles, and book and bake sales helped the University of Miami raise more than $1 million for its 2010 United Way campaign. | more

Study Finds Energy Drinks May Put Some Children at Risk for Adverse Health Effects
Energy drinks may pose a risk for serious adverse health effects in some children, especially those with diabetes, seizures, cardiac abnormalities, or mood and behavior disorders, according to new findings from pediatric researchers at the Miller School of Medicine. | more

    Hurricanes Open 2011 College Football Season on Labor Day Night at Maryland
    For the fourth time since 2004, the Miami Hurricanes will open the college football season in a nationally televised game on Labor Day night. UM will face the Maryland Terrapins in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on September 5 in College Park, Maryland, marking the Hurricanes’ first game there since 2006.| more
