School of Communication receives reaccreditation
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) voted unanimously at its annual meeting on April 30 to reaccredit the University of Miami’s School of Communication. The school’s programs in journalism, electronic media, media management, advertising, and public relations are reviewed every six years by ACEJMC, the nation’s foremost accrediting body for higher education in journalism and mass communications. | more |

A Miami banker who gave $60 million of his own money to his current and former staff, a family practice doctor who started a Gulf Coast clinic in Alabama and went on to become U.S. surgeon general, a medical anthropologist and physician who founded a nonprofit organization that provides “a preferential option for the poor in health care,” and a Harvard law professor who is arguably the most famous constitutional scholar and Supreme Court practitioner in the country are among the dignitaries who will speak and receive honorary degrees at the University of Miami’s May commencement exercises. | more |

Miller School and Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation bring telehealth to Miami-Dade Schools
The Miller School of Medicine has ushered in a new era of convenient, cost-reducing, health-promoting telehealth in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Its Telehealth Project for Students enables 8,000 school children in six north Miami-Dade schools to almost instantly connect to a physician for consultations when they visit their school clinics with a stomach ache, a sore throat, or for a chronic illness. | more |

e-Veritas summer schedule begins May 17
Starting with the Monday, May 17 edition, e-Veritas will begin its summer schedule of once-per-week delivery every Monday. Faculty and staff who submit items for inclusion should take this new schedule into consideration for their upcoming events. e-Veritas will resume its twice-per-week delivery approximately one week prior to the start of the fall semester. |

Through a sensory-based, experiential learning experience, University of Miami students and employees got a firsthand look at how oppression affects today’s society. The annual Tunnel of Oppression, held at the University Center Ballrooms from April 26 to 28, challenged people’s ideas and perceptions of issues surrounding oppression and hatred, featuring a series of rooms with various multimedia presentations. | more |
