MILLER SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Landmark study conducted at UM and other centers will help slow kidney disease
The Miller School of Medicine is one of 22 U.S. medical centers taking part in the National Institutes of Health’s African-American Study of Kidney Disease and Hypertension, a sweeping national study with “enormous” public health implications that has shown that controlling blood pressure more intensively can slow the debilitating progression of kidney disease in many African-American patients. | more

The new race/ethnicity survey for the U.S. Department of Education is well under way. Under the department’s new guidelines, individuals can select more than one race/ethnicity category to describe their background. All UM faculty, staff, and students are being asked to update their race/ethnicity data in myUM. | more

Home games versus Duke, North Carolina highlight men’s basketball schedule

The University of Miami men’s basketball squad’s 2010-2011 schedule includes 16 games against teams that played in postseason tournaments last year. Eighteen of those will be televised, with at least nine of those games broadcast nationally. | more
