Marine Technology and Life Sciences Seawater Complex Breaks Ground
Twenty years after Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida, the University of Miami broke ground last Thursday on a new $47 million facility that will help scientists improve storm forecasting. When completed, the Marine Technology and Life Sciences Seawater Complex will house a 28,000-gallon tank that will be as long as a bowling alley and allow investigators to simulate storm-surge conditions and Category 5 hurricane-force winds. | more |
