Ring Theatre Continues Exciting Season with ‘Fifty*Four*Forever’
The Department of Theatre Arts continues its exciting season this November with the musical Fifty*Four*Forever, conceived and directed by nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune. Tune has also received eight Drama Desk Awards, the 2003 Presidential National Medal of Arts, and his own star on Hollywood’s legendary Walk of Fame. Written by Mark Saltzman, the musical play takes place in New York City, where Studio 54 becomes a magical disco that everyone clamors to get into. | more
Photography Exhibition at the Lowe Provides Insight to Life in Contemporary China
The Lowe Art Museum presents 150 photographic works by seven photographers from mainland China in the exhibition China: Insights, on view November 12 through January 15, 2012. The artists explore the relationship between contemporary photography and visual culture by undertaking the creation of a long-term documentation of one or more aspects of Chinese culture that reflect something vital about China now. | more |

Hurricanes Homecoming
With class reunions, a concert, educational activities, and more, the University of Miami celebrated another successful Alumni Weekend and Homecoming, held November 4-6. On Friday Stanford Drive on the Coral Gables campus came alive with a parade that featured grand marshal Maggie Rodriguez, B.S.C. '91, former co-anchor of the CBS television program The Early Show, and Sebastian the Ibis (top) as well as the spirited music of the Band of the Hour (above). That same night, a fireworks display lit up the shores of Lake Osceola as students, alumni, and visitors enjoyed UM homecoming traditions. | more |

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Speaks at UM
The first African-American woman to become U.S. secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice spoke on the University of Miami campus on November 3 as part of the Charles E. Cobb Leadership Lecture Series in collaboration with Books & Books. During the event, which was conducted in an interview format with UM President Donna E.
