Yale Scholar Details His Struggle Against Skepticism about Cuba
Speaking candidly on a topic close to his heart, Yale University scholar Carlos M. N. Eire, who came to the United States from Cuba in 1962 as part of Operation Pedro Pan, explained to a University of Miami audience on November 21 how Cuban exiles still face disbelief about accounts of repression and human rights violations in the island nation. U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce Talks Free Trade at UM Event
Francisco Sánchez, U.S. undersecretary of commerce for international trade, told an audience at a University of Miami Center for Hemispheric Policy luncheon on November 17 that the new free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea would help “level the playing field and create tens of thousands of jobs for the U.S.” A President Barack Obama appointee, Sánchez spoke before more than 120 business executives and entrepreneurs at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Miami. | more |
