The School of Nursing and Health Studies kicked off a yearlong celebration of its 65th birthday with two days of celebratory events last week. As the school marks a milestone, plans are under way for the largest undertaking in its history: the nation’s first education-based simulation hospital that will replicate the true flow of activity in a clinical setting. | more

Student Activities Center Officially Opens

When the doors swung open August 26 to officially open the University of Miami’s new Student Activities Center, each of the hundreds of students who streamed in for a tour had a multitude of reasons for falling in love with the three-story, 119,000-square-facility facility. How tiny fish larvae travel away from coral reefs then return has long been a scientific mystery. Now, a new study led by Rosenstiel School researcher Claire Paris has revealed that these larvae can smell the presence of reefs from as far as several kilometers offshore, using the odor to find their way home. | more

A time-shifting comedy by the author of Top Girls, Cloud 9 created a sensation when it opened Off-Broadway in 1981 under the direction of Tommy Tune.
