UM Filipino Student Association Leads Relief Effort for Survivors of Super Typhoon
Beginning this week, the Filipino Student Association (FSA) is spearheading campus-wide fundraisers, including a USpeak Readathon at The Rock on Thursday, December 5, to aid survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan. All proceeds from the fundraisers, and a website the FSA set up for online donations, will go to the American Red Cross for its relief efforts in the Philippines. | more |

TeamUM United Way Extends Contribution Deadline
The 2013 United Way campaign ended with a splash on November 22, when TeamUM hosted the inaugural Dunk & Dine event at the Miller School of Medicine, but faculty and staff still have an opportunity to help the University reach its goal by making a contribution online through myUM. Coley’s Three Touchdowns Lead Miami Past Pittsburgh
Freshman wide receiver Stacy Coley hauled in a pair of touchdown passes and raced 73 yards on an end-around for another score as the Miami Hurricanes defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 41-31 Saturday, finishing the season 9-3. The ’Canes will soon learn their late-December bowl destination. | more

On his way to meet President Barack Obama in Washington, Colombian President Juan Miguel Santos Calderón paid a special visit to the University of Miami Monday to promote the growing opportunities amid growing peace in his nation, South Florida’s second largest trading partner. Prior to Calderón's address at the Newman Alumni Center, UM President Donna E. Shalala awarded him the UM President's Medal, which honors individuals for their outstanding leadership and distinguished accomplishments in their fields of expertise as well as for their contributions to society. | more |
