‘Finished in Beauty’ and ‘Pueblo to Pueblo’ Debut at Lowe Art Museum January 24
The Lowe Art Museum debuts two new exhibitions this week. Featuring 19 examples of Navajo wearing blankets, “Finished in Beauty: Navajo Weaving from the Permanent Collection” examines three categories of these beautiful, hand-woven works of art: the chief blanket, women’s garments, and the sarape, all drawn from the Lowe’s Alfred I. Barton Collection of Native American Art. “Pueblo to Pueblo: The Legacy of Southwest Indian Pottery” consists of 74 Pueblo Indian pottery vessels and supporting materials, dating from the mid-19th to the mid-20th centuries and illustrating the remarkable variety of pottery created during that very dynamic time of transformation. Both exhibitions run January 24 though March 23. |
