Religious studies professor David Graf knew recent UM graduate Felix Perez, who lost the use of his arms and legs during overseas military service, “had a good mind” and wasn’t about to let Perez slide when the veteran struggled in Graf’s course on ancient Rome. Instead, Graf pushed Perez to work harder, earning his student’s appreciation for “reminding me that ‘quit’ is not in my vocabulary.” | more

The top ten participants in this year’s Walking ’Canes program, who lost an average of 11 pounds walking about 10,916 steps every day, strolled their way to a May 19 lunch with UM President Donna E.
