“35 Shots of Rum” (PG)

This heartfelt slice-of-life drama by French filmmaker Claire Denis tells the story of Widower and train conductor Lionel who lives with his daughter Josephine, a college student, in a bustling apartment complex. The two have grown accustomed to one another’s company and spend most of their time together, but lately Josephine has been spending time with a handsome young neighbor, while Lionel is being wooed by a close friend. As their lives are pulled in different directions, father and daughter must learn to find a place for romance in their lives. Subtitles.

“Antichrist” (NR)
After their child dies, a therapist (Willem Dafoe) and his wife (Charlotte Gainsbourg, 2009 Cannes Film Festival’s Best Actress) retreat to their cabin in the woods, where they hope to mend their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But the grief-stricken couple see their troubles multiply when strange things begin to happen. Acclaimed Danish director Lars von Trier’s tale reveals a surreal, horrific psychological adventure about the evils of nature, humanity and desire. Please Note: This film is extremely graphic.
