Argentina is wedged between the crest of the Andean Cordillera to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. South America's second-largest country is home to places like Tierra del Fuego and the Patagonia and origin to music and dance as brilliant and sensuous as the tango.

UNIVERSIDAD DEL SALVADOR

Summer Spanish Language Program
Founded in 1956, the Universidad Salvador stresses human and social concerns in all of its academic programs. In addition to broad coverage of academic and professional subjects, the university places special emphasis on the study of Latin America, particularly Argentina. The main buildings are located in the city's core district, offering ample access to a wide variety of cultural and commericial venues.

Prerequisites
Fluency or advanced skills in Spanish language. UM students should have taken through at least SPA 214 (or the equivalent course) prior to participation. Good academic standing.

Housing

There are no on-campus dormitories or residence halls; however, the International Exchange Programs office can assist you in securing a room off-campus in either a shared apartment or with a host family. Students will make all room and board payments directly upon arrival to the necessary party.

UNIVERSIDAD DE SAN ANDRES

The Universidad de San Andres (UDESA) was founded in 1989 and offers undergraduate degrees in business administration, economics, accounting, international relations, political science, and communications. Located about 40 minutes by commuter train north of the center of the Argentine federal capital of Buenos Aires, UDESA's suburban campus is situated by the shores of the Rio de la Plata. The campus itself is small, with modern facilities. UDESA's faculty members are all highly regarded within their fields, with a majority of its professors holding doctoral degrees. The student body is comprised of less than 1,000 students. All coursework is in Spanish, so students must have an advanced command of the language. A full load is four courses per semester.

Minimum 3.0 GPA. Fluency or advanced skills in Spanish language. UM students should have taken through at least SPA 301 (or the equivalent course) prior to participation.  International Studies majors are encouraged to apply.

Room and Board
There are no on-campus dormitories or residence halls; however, UDESA's Foreign Studies Office can place you in a room off-campus in either a shared apartment or host family. Students may opt to live in a suburban residence close to campus or in downtown Buenos Aires, which would entail a reverse commute by train to Victoria.

UNIVERSIDAD TORCUATO DI TELLA

The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) was founded in 1991 and offers undergraduate degrees in law, economics, business administration, political science and government, and international studies. It is fast expanding and aims to have close to 1,000 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students within the next five years. Located in the pleasant urban setting of the Belgrano neighborhood of central Buenos Aires, UTDT is housed in one large building which has computer facilities and one of the most important social sciences libraries in the country with a number of original and rare collections. The majority of UTDT's faculty hold advanced doctoral degrees and are also some of the leading researchers in a number of field in the social sciences and economics. All coursework is in Spanish, so students must have an advanced command of the language.

Students generally stay in local student residence for the first week while they look at a few options and decide where they want to live.
