The University of Miami welcomes the working press from around the world. We want to make your visit as productive as possible. Our University Communications office is working closely with the Commission on Presidential Debates to ensure that everything goes smoothly during your visit. A Media Welcome Desk has been established at the Media Filing Center; the desk will be open and staffed by media relations officers daily to help accommodate your needs while on campus.

Media Credentials
Credentials are required for access to the Media Filing Center, the Debate Hall, and the area immediately surrounding those two venues. Credentials must be applied for through the Commission on Presidential Debates at http://www.debates.org/pages/news_040806.html. The deadline for application is Friday, September 24, 2004.

Media Credentials must be worn at all times while you are on the University of Miami campus.

Picking Up Media Credentials
Members of the media are encouraged to pick up credentials as soon as they arrive in on campus. The Credentials Center is located at Founders Hall, just off Brescia Avenue, on the University of Miami's Coral Gables campus. (See "Directions to Campus," below.) The center will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Monday, September 27, through Thursday, September 30.

Media may park at the Credentials Center only while picking up credentials. There is no other parking for media available at this location.

Credentialing Information for Large Media Trucks
Temporary parking for large media trucks will be located in the Brescia Parking Lot accessible from Brescia Avenue off Red Road (see "Map" and "Directions to Campus," below). This is a temporary parking area, and trucks must be moved immediately upon issuance of credentials. The Credentials Center is located across the street from the Brescia Parking Lot at Founders Hall.

Once media are credentialed, trucks should exit the parking area making a right onto Scodella Avenue to San Amaro Drive. Turn right on San Amaro Drive and proceed to Ponce de Leon Boulevard and turn left. Then, proceed to Dickinson Drive (one block past the first traffic light) and turn left. The Media Filing Center is ahead on your left. The Debate Hall is to your right.

Parking for Media
Parking for media has been designated at several locations that are within walking distance of the Credentials Center. Parking is recommended in designated areas at Lots 42 and 43 on Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Parking also is available at Corniche and Albenga Avenues (see "Directions to Campus" and "Map," below).

Dedicated media shuttles will run continuously between these lots, the Credentials Center, and the Media Filing Center. Shuttles begin running at 4 a.m. daily.

Media Shuttles
Dedicated media shuttles will run continuously from designated media parking areas and the Credentials Center. All shuttles will stop at a shuttle hub located at Mark Light Stadium to transfer to a secure shuttle before going to the Media Filing Center. You must wear credentials to be admitted onto a secure shuttle.

Access to Media Filing Center
The Media Filing Center will open on Monday, September 27, at 8 a.m. and will be open early and closed late the week of the debate to accommodate deadlines for various media in different time zones.

Access to the Media Filing Center and other secure areas on Thursday, September 30, is via shuttle bus only. No walk-ups or drive-ups.

Deliveries to Media Center
Media may drop off equipment and supplies at the Media Filing Center from Monday, September 27, at 8 a.m. until Wednesday, September 29, at 5 p.m. A loading area has been designated at the Media Center. This is a loading and unloading area only, and there is no short-term or long-term parking here.

The cutoff for deliveries and drop-offs at the Media Filing Center is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29. No deliveries or drop-offs are permitted beyond that time. There will be absolutely no drop-offs or deliveries permitted on Thursday, September 30.

Directions to the University of Miami's Coral Gables Campus

Driving from Miami International Airport:
Follow LeJeune Road south for about five miles (through downtown Coral Gables). Turn right on U.S. 1 and travel about 1.5 miles. Turn right on Red Road (S.W. 57th Avenue). Go to the second light, which is Brescia Avenue. Turn right. The Credentials Center is on your right at Founders Hall (through the coral rock entrance).

After picking up credentials exit the same way you came in and turn right on Brescia. Turn right on San Amaro Drive (Hurricane Drive) and go to first light, which is Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Media parking is directly across Ponce in Lots 42 and 43.

Note: Additional media parking is available on Corniche Avenue. To get to these lots, when leaving the Credentials Center, turn right onto Brescia Avenue. At the end of the block, turn left on San Amaro Drive (Hurricane Drive). Go four blocks and turn left on Corniche. Parking is on your right.

The Credentials Center is on the left in Founders Hall (through coral rock entrance).

After picking up credentials exit the same way you came in and turn right on Brescia. Turn right on San Amaro Drive (Hurricane Drive) and go to first light, which is Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Media parking is directly across Ponce in Lots 42 and 43.

Arriving by Metro Rail:
Exit University Metro Rail Station and proceed to the University Hurry'Cane Shuttle stop at the Metro rail station. The Hurry 'Cane shuttle pick-up is located at ground level with service to the Credentials Center area. The first option is to catch the shuttle on the Metro rail station side of Ponce de Leon Boulevard, or for faster service cross Ponce at the crosswalk for the southbound shuttle.
