Parking
and Transportation
Planning
is under way to handle the increased traffic and parking demands that
will surround the presidential debate and related events, such as the
visit of the Dalai Lama. University students and employees on the Coral
Gables campus should expect some traffic patterns and parking alterations
to occur.
For instance,
to meet traffic control and security requirements for the presidential
debate, access to some University parking garages and lots may be temporarily
closed or limited, and some streets may be temporarily closed to vehicular
and pedestrian traffic. Hurry 'Cane shuttle routes may be adjusted to
help accommodate the access to parking lots and garages.
Every effort
will be made to limit the inconvenience to students, employees, residents,
businesses, and visitors during this brief period and to keep all those
affected by these changes informed.
Ultimately
law enforcement and security personnel will make final decisions regarding
parking and traffic control in the days leading up to, and immediately
before the debate itself. For more information on possible parking and
street closures and traffic rerouting, please visit this Web site periodically
leading up to the event.
