New Deans Coming to a City Near You

The New Deans Tour will feature Shelton G. Berg, Dean of the Frost School of Music, and Barbara E. Kahn, Dean of the School of Business Administration.   Part of a nationwide University of Miami Alumni Association initiative, these receptions enable alumni, parents, and friends to interact with these new University leaders and hear their visions for the future.

Explorer of the Seas Voyage

August 14-23

Departing from Port Liberty, New Jersey

Alumni and friends of the University of Miami, and its Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, are invited to sail on a unique oceanographic adventure aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines's Explorer of the Seas. "Treasures of the Abyss" will feature renowned marine archaeologist and UM alumnus John Gifford, Ph.D., who will serve as cruise leader for the nine-day cruise. The state-of-the-art Explorer is the first luxury passenger vessel outfitted with dedicated science labs and sensors that gather data for oceanic and atmospheric studies. The cruise will depart on August 14 from Port Liberty, New Jersey and return on August 23. S.P.O.R.T. Golf Classic

More than 30 University of Miami Sport Administration graduate students are hosting their 3rd annual S.P.O.R.T. Golf Classic presented by Metta Financial on Friday, April 25. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit The Florida Marlins Community Foundation whose purpose is to promote educational, athletic, health, social and community service programs in the South Florida youth. The tournament will be held at the Palmetto Golf Course at 9300 SW 152nd St., Miami, Fla. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. and is followed by a silent auction. Individual tickets are $65, $240 for foursomes and $280 for a foursome and a tee-box. Tickets can be purchased by calling Jessica Lortie at 954-558-7202.

Two very special reunions will also be that evening; the Class of 1958 will celebrate its 50th Reunion, followed by the Old Timers Reunion for members of the classes of 1926-1957.

Return to the classroom Friday morning for the Audrey R. Finkelstein UM Experience before attending the best block party in town Friday night at Alumni Avenue where you can reconnect with friends from classes, student organizations, or school and college connections. On Saturday, head to Dolphin Stadium for the popular Pregame Celebration and the Homecoming Game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.  And wrap up your fun-filled weekend at the Venetian Pool on Sunday at the Farewell Brunch.
