Ethics Film Series 2013A 1992 American drama, adapted by David Mamet from his 1984 Pulitzer Prize- and Tony- winning play with the same name. The film depicts two days in the lives of four real estate salesmen and how they become desperate when the corporate office sends a trainer to "motivate" them by announcing that, in one week, all except the top salesmen will be fired. Post-Screening Discussion by UM Faculty. All events are free and open to alumni, students, and the UM community; no RSVP is necessary. James JonesTwo-Time NBA Champion and former Hurricane Great James Jones B.B.A. '03 is the 2013 Alumni Weekend & Homecoming Grand Marshal! Jones is currently a small forward for the Two-Time Defending NBA Champion Miami Heat. He has appeared in 536 regular season games and has made 83 starts in his 10-year NBA career. He was drafted in 2003 by the Indiana Pacers, and has had career stops in Phoenix and Portland before being signed by the Miami Heat in 2008. He currently serves as the secretary-treasurer of the National Basketball Players Association. He is also the Heat's player representative and a member of the NBAPA. Jones graduated with a degree in finance from the University of Miami where he was a member of the National Honor Society and carried a 3.41 GPA. During his time with the Hurricanes he averaged 11.1 points a game, 5.0 rebounds, 1.57 blocks, 1.2 assists, 1.12 steals and 27.5 minutes in 122 games (89 starts) while shooting 38.3 percent from the three-point range. He earned Big East All-Academic Honors in each of his 4 seasons and was UM's first Verizon Academic All-American in 2002-2003. He and his wife Destiny have three children (James Dylan "J.D." Jones, Jadynn Alyssa Jones, and Jodie Marissa Jones). Jones owns an urban redevelopment company (James Jones Ventures) and has established the James Jones Legacy Foundation that helps children build a better future. We are proud and honored to have James Jones back on campus as our Grand Marshal!

Beaux Arts Children's Pavilion Offers "Fall Classes" at Lowe Museum

Beaux Arts Children's PavilionHave a budding, young artist in the family? Beaux Arts Children's Pavilion is pleased to announce its "Fall Classes," now enrolling children ages 5 – 12. Held at the Lowe Art Museum, Beaux Arts Children's Pavilion art classes are ideal ways for children to express themselves and show their creativity. Choose from Basic Art or Ceramic Classes on Monday afternoon or Saturday mornings. Classes started September 7th, but it is not too late to join in. Desperate to keep up the illusion, he turns to his childhood best friend, Adam Lipschitz (Joel David Moore) to teach him how to “act Jewish.” But Adam has problems of his own, with a fiancé (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) pushing him closer to a mental breakdown as their wedding approaches. With the best intentions, Adam and Christian attempt to help each other out, but things quickly go completely and hilariously off the rails in this outrageous all-star comedy from the creators of the original hit international play seen by millions. From Ancient Art to Modern Molas: Recurring Themes in Indigenous Panamá explores connections within the Lowe's collection of molas, or traditional blouses, and pre-Columbian ceramic and stone objects from the Gran Coclé and Gran Chiriquí cultures. Curated by University of Miami students in the annual museum studies class, ArtLab @ The Lowe, supervised by Dr. Traci Ardren, Associate Professor of Anthropology, From Ancient Art to Modern Molas is on view May 3, 2013 through April 27, 2014 in the Richard and Shelley Bermont Focus Gallery of the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum.

The Lowe Art Museum is located on the campus of the University of Miami at 1301 Stanford Drive, Coral Gables. Museum gallery and store hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday noon – 4 p.m. The Museum is closed Mondays and University holidays. General Admission (not including programs) is $10, senior citizens and non-UM students are $5, and free for Lowe members, UM students, faculty and staff, and children under 12. Admission is free on Donation Day, the first Tuesday of every month. Public Program Admission is $10 for non-members and free for Lowe members.
