While the University of Miami Alumni Association tries to make sure our electronic media is fully accessible for all of our alumni, sometimes our e-publications don't get through. If you think you should be receiving e-Alumni Connections or other messages from the UMAA and are not (or they do not appear correctly), please check the list below, which contains various troubleshooting items we've run across.

I'm an AOL User and I don't receive mail from the UMAA. I don't see any pictures when I receive e-mail from the UMAA.
I'm not an AOL User and I still don't receive mail from the UMAA. I've tried to unsubscribe several times and I still receive e-mails.


Alumni who use America Online for their mail may have the built-in AOL security and SPAM features block our messages. This may be because our newsletters contain embedded images or attachments. Users may also be "blocking" all mail from the address miami.edu. If you are an AOL user and are not receiving mail from the UMAA (i.e. alumni@miami.edu), you can adjust your filtering and security settings to allow our e-mail to reach you.

If you're not receiving messages from the UMAA, but you know that you should be, you may have a SPAM filter on your e-mail software or through your Internet Service Provider that is blocking miami.edu or alumni@miami.edu. Please check your settings. If you do not have SPAM protection, please double check that your current e-mail address is the one we have on file, or that it's not being forwarded somewhere else. You can log on to our free online directory service at www.miamialumni.net to update your contact information, or you can contact our office at 1-866-UMALUMS or via e-mail.

If you don't see pictures or layout (i.e. if your e-mail doesn't look like this web page), the software you use to read your e-mail may not be setup to read HTML or Rich Text e-mail messages. Some security feaures also prevent images from appearing without you approving them first. Please consult your software documentation on adjusting these settings. If you are a web-mail user (such as Hotmail, Yahoo, or Juno), your browser settings or your account settings may be blocking our stylesheets, images, or messages.

While we hate to see our alumni unsubscribe from our newsletters, we try to make the process as easy as possible for our subscribers. To unsubscribe, simply enter the e-mail address you are subscribed as in the box and click the unsubscribe button. This will deliver a confirmation e-mail to the address provided where you will have to click (or cut and paste) a confirmation link. If you no longer have access to that e-mail address, your e-mail is being forwarded, or you don't know what address you are subscribed as, the unsubscription process may not work. If that is the case, please e-mail alumni@miami.edu with your full name, your current e-mail, and any other possible addresses that you may be subscribed as. We will process your request within 24 hours.
