Pedro R. Pizarro, President and CEO, Telefonica USA, Inc.
Pedro (Pete) Pizarro currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Telefonica USA, Inc. In this role, Mr. Pizarro is responsible for designing and executing Telefonica's strategy and the full P&L responsibility of its 3 US-based strategic business segments, which include managing the telecommunication and IT Services needs of US Multinational Corporations throughout the USA, Latin America, Central America and Caribbean Regions, in leading Telefonica's Residential Hispanic Consumer Business in the Continental USA and Puerto Rico and the Small and Medium Size Business segments in the US and Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining Telefonica in 2002, Mr. Pizarro served as the President and CEO of Esavio Services Corporation, a network integration and managed services consulting company based in Philadelphia, PA. In addition, Mr. Pizarro has served as CFO and in other executive positions at various international firms including Nobart Inc., The Siman Group, and KPMG.
Mr. Pizarro has extensive international business experience in managing organizations, including start-ups and turn-around's throughout the US and Latin America. His past work includes major capital expansions and investment projects in Miami, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador plus significant experience working with local regulators in the Telecommunications industry. He has also actively lead numerous mergers, acquisitions and integration of business entities including private capital placements and raising credit instruments and facilities inside and outside of the USA.
He is actively involved with and provides leadership to a number of local and national organizations, including the Beacon Council (Chair Elect, Board Member and Executive Committee); Board Member and Past co-Chair of the International Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and Past Board Member of The Miami Dade County International Trade Consortium (ITC) In addition, Mr. Pizarro serves on Northwestern University's, Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board, the Advisory Board at the University of Miami School of Engineering.
Mr. Pizarro has been recognized by Miami Today as South Florida's Top Communications Leader and by South Florida CEO magazine as one of the 101 Top International Leaders in South Florida. He was recently inducted into the Miami-Dade College Hall of Fame, and has appeared on television as a guest on the Miami-Dade Television channel, CNN en Español, Alberto Padilla's "Economia y Finanzas" daily Spanish news program and Comcast's Newsmaker Program segment.
Mr. Pizarro holds a bachelor of business degree in accounting from the University of Miami and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He has also participated in ongoing senior management and executive leadership development programs at INSEAD, in France, and other educational institutions.
