Program in Brief

• ENGINEERING FOR THE AMERICAS (EFTA) consists of 2 one-week sessions. Participating students must commit to attending both sessions in a given year. The first session will be held at the University of Miami in the state of Florida, USA, from January 6 - 12, 2008. The second session will held in Panama June 8-14, 2008.

• Students who attend both sessions of this program in a year will receive a certificate of participation.

• EFTA is tuition-free. Students are responsible for personal expenses such as travel, hotel room, meals, health insurance, and visas, and other miscellaneous expenses.

• A very limited number of students from any given university will be accepted into this program.

U.S. Visa Information

U.S. visa requirements are determined by the U.S. State Department. Visa requirements will vary by country. Contact the U.S. embassy/consulate nearest to you to learn the procedure and to obtain a short-term, non-immigrant visa for the purpose of attending this program. Issuance of the U.S. visa is at the sole discretion of the U.S. visa office and the officer/representative. Please take note of the required documents for issuance of a U.S. visa on the website that corresponds to your home country.

Transportation Information

Miami is served by most airlines. The airport is just eleven miles from the host hotel. Complimentary airport shuttle to hotel is available.

Please check with your airline to learn the most up-to-date rules and restrictions regarding baggage and carry-on luggage.


Hotel Information

A special rate of $159, plus taxes has been arranged for our participants at the Dadeland Marriott Courtyard. Details will be provided in the student registration package.

Meals

Participants will be provided continental breakfast, lunch and dinner on most days of the program.

Health Insurance

All international students are required to have health insurance coverage during their stay at the host institution.

Did you submit your application for selection into the EFTA program to your university representative?

Once accepted for the program:

Did you obtain your US visa?

Did you give your itinerary and U.S. contact information to your family?

Did you fax the required documentation (liability form, hotel confirmation #) and two family emergency contact numbers?

Have you packed appropriate attire for the program?
