Arsht Research Initiatives
2008 "Ethics and Community" Grants and Ethics Advisory Board
Philanthropist Adrienne Arsht has made a gift to the University of Miami Ethics Programs to support several initiatives, including research projects in applied ethics. The project is now in it second year. Arsht research projects must address a contemporary moral issue with implications for public policy, professional practice, human rights, etc. Arsht Grants are awarded to faculty-student teams. UM’s Ethics Programs have established a university-wide Ethics Advisory Board to referee the research project proposals and, more broadly, function as a multi- and interdisciplinary scholarly community. Faculty and others from the Gables, marine and medical campuses have agreed to serve. Many members are department or division chairs, center directors and other campus leaders. The EAB has emerged as a source of new and innovative collaboration in education, research and community service.
To apply for membership on the Ethics Advisory Board, correct an entry or make a suggestion, please send email to ethics@miami.edu.
