Mark S. Frankel, Ph.D., is director of the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Scientific Freedom, Responsibility and Law Program, where he develops and manages activities related to professional ethics, science and society, and science and law. He also served as Associate Director of the AAAS Program of Dialogue between Science and Religion from 1995-1998. He is staff officer for two AAAS committees -- the Committee on Scientific Freedom and Responsibility and the AAAS-American Bar Association National Conference of Lawyers and Scientists, and editor of the Association's quarterly publication, Professional Ethics Report.
Dr. Frankel is on the Board of Directors of the National Patient Safety Foundation and serves on the editorial boards of Science and Engineering Ethics, Ethics & Behavior, Professional Ethics, and the Law and Human Genome Review. He is on the editorial board for the proceedings of the 2001 ISCU-UNESCO International Conference on Electronic Publishing in Science. He has authored or edited fifteen AAAS monographs, and is a Fellow of AAAS.
