Become part of UM’s vibrant residential community

Four Reasons to Make Four Fillies Farm
Your New Home

Tranquility: Smathers Four Fillies Farm, a residential community of 31 single-family homes for University of Miami faculty, is located in the Village of Pinecrest. The neighborhood has been built on 11 acres in the center of the 32-acre Smathers estate that was donated to UM by philanthropist and longtime trustee Frank Smathers Jr. The remaining 21 acres of the estate’s rare plant life, which includes extensive fruit groves and a natural hammock, has been left intact and is being maintained and protected by Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens.

Convenience: Located on Red Road, the Four Fillies neighborhood is only minutes from the Coral Gables campus. There are also three Metrorail stations located nearby for easy and stress-free access to the Miller School of Medicine campus.

Within Four Fillies, there is a walking trail, a clubhouse with a pool and hot tub, a playground, tennis court, and a workout room. And Pinecrest Gardens, just a few steps away, is the site of Pinecrest’s new community center, a 15,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility with a fitness and wellness center, a dance/movement room, multipurpose activity rooms, art rooms, and activity and playrooms for kids. Pinecrest Gardens, the former historic Parrot Jungle, includes botanical gardens, historical structures, a village green, recreational fields, a Vita Course, and the new Pinecrest branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System.

Environmentally and Economically Conscious: The residences, constructed by the award-winning firm Accolade Companies (formerly known as Breakstone Homes), completed their certification process as “Green Homes.” A conceptual analysis by GreenMind, Inc., the project’s certified green building consultant, indicates that all of the homes as designed will be eligible for this certification by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), with the first four homes already attaining Certified Florida Green Home status. The FGBC establishes requirements that ensure homes meet certain environmental and energy standards by using sustainable construction methods.

Location: The Village of Pinecrest has long been considered one of South Florida’s most desirable, family-oriented communities. Pinecrest Elementary and Palmetto Senior High consistently rank among the top public schools in the state, and some of Miami’s best private schools are just a short drive away. The village’s ongoing commitment to its residents can be seen in the community center. In addition, other nearby amenities include diverse retail options (from daily needs to regional shopping malls), Miami-Dade County’s Matheson Hammock Park with its lagoon beach, boating facilities and biking trails, and internationally recognized Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens.
