Darnele Liautaud Wright, assistant general counsel, joined the University of Miami Office of the General Counsel in December 2008. Ms. Wright is a former associate in the law firm of Shutts & Bowen, LLP in the Business Litigation Practice Group, where she focused on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on labor and employment, as well as intellectual property and insurance.

Ms. Wright is a member of the Florida Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyer's Association, the Haitian Lawyers' Association, and the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association and is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.

Ms. Wright received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she was a Barbara C. Jordan Scholar and a Whitney Young Junior Fellow (full scholarship with stipend). She graduated from New York University, where she was the recipient of an Academic Merit Scholarship, with a Bachelor of Arts.
