MAIA will welcome David C. Ellis as Associate Director for Academic Affairs in the Fall of 2007. He received his PhD in International Relations and Comparative Politics at the University of Florida, and before that he earned an MA in International Developmental Studies from the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Dr. Ellis also obtained his BS, summa cum laude, in Spanish. His regional interest is Africa. He has taught such courses as the Politics of Developing Nations, Ethnic Politics, International Political Economy, Rich and Poor Nations in the International System, the Politics of the United Nations, International Relations Theory, International Institutions, the US and World Affairs, and Introduction to International Relations. He has published on a wide variety of topics such as micro credit, conflict studies and the theory of learning.
