Coral Gables Parking Meter Changes

The City of Coral Gables has extended its enforcement of parking meters until midnight, Monday through Saturday. Parking meters on and around UM's Coral Gables campus that will be affected include those on Dickinson Drive East, Pasano Avenue, Pavia Street, San Amaro Drive, and Stanford Drive.

CENTER FOR ADVANCED SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CREATED

UM has established the M. Anthony Burns Center for Advanced Supply Chain Management. Ryder System, Inc. is the Center's founding sponsor with IBM contributing supply chain expertise. The Center is named in honor of Board of Trustees member Tony Burns, the former Ryder chairman who retired earlier this year after 28 years with the company. The Center will conduct research and provide executive education programs in supply chain management—the process of managing the efficient flows of goods, information, funds and work among trading partners worldwide. STREAK ENDS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER

After a second-straight undefeated season, the 'Canes quest for their sixth national championship in football fell short on Friday as they lost in double overtime to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 31-24 at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. CONVOCATION CENTER WEB SITE LAUNCHED

If you went to the inaugural men's basketball game at the new Convocation Center over the weekend (and saw a thrilling overtime victory by the 'Canes), then you know how amazing the Center is. Well, now there's an easy way to keep informed on upcoming games, concerts and events at the Center - the Convocation Center Web site. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM MAKES DEBUT IN CONVOCATION CENTER

Opening night for the women's basketball team at the Convocation Center is 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 15 against the Eagles of Boston College. This is also "Take a Kid to a Game Night." Bring a child under the age of 12 to the game and they will receive admission for $1. The seats are in, the banners are hung, and all we are missing is your Hurricane support. Be sure to be a part of all the action the University of Miami Convocation Center has to offer.


RESEARCH IN BEHAVIOR SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Are you involved in behavioral research as an investigator, research associate or coordinator? Join in a discussion to gain valuable information about topics in behavioral research, including informed consent, special populations, organization of records, confidentiality, review of past audits, communication with the IRB, preparing for a UM audit, and more. Regulatory compliance expert and UM consultant Marjorie A. Kaiser, RN, will present topics, followed by Q & A sessions with Dr. Norman Altman, Dr. Leo Twiggs, Dr. Kenneth Goodman, and Dr. Jay Sosenko.

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE SERVICE INITIATIVE KICK-OFF

School of Medicine faculty and administrators are invited to attend the UM School of Medicine Service Initiative 2003 Kickoff, 10 a.m., Thursday, January 16 at the Lois Pope LIFE Center's seventh floor auditorium. John G. Clarkson, Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean will initiate the activities. Following the Dean's presentation will be live performances on customer service and the opportunity to participate in group activities.   • The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis continues the Gail F. Beach Memorial 2002-2003 Visiting Lectureship Series with Dr. Warren Grill, at noon, Wednesday, January 8, at the Lois Pope LIFE Center's seventh floor auditorium. Dr. Grill will present Electrical Activation of Spinal Neural Circuits for Restoration of Function. He is presently the Elmer L. Lindseth Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and is at the forefront of efforts to map the physiological responses evoked in the genitourinary and motor systems by microstimulation of the spinal cord.
