J. Donald Temple, M.D., associate professor of medicine

Courses teaching this semester: I teach the Hematology/Oncology module for second-year medical students, Clinical Skills, and Problem-Based Learning tutorials in general medicine. I'm also directing the Office of Professional Development and Career Guidance for students, which helps advise them on preparing for their residency and matching their interests to the career path they choose.

Favorite UM memory: As a senior medical student here at UM, I was the official "jumpographer" for the 1978 Synapse yearbook. I took portraits of faculty members jumping and really saw their personalities emerge. I worked on it the entire year and it was probably my most favorite memory.

Current reading: Sick Puppy by Carl Hiaasen

CDs currently listening to: Are You Experienced? by Jimi Hendrix

Way to start your day: I start early, at about 4:30 a.m., so I can drop my oldest daughter, who is in high school, at the Metro Rail by 6:30 a.m. Then to the office where I get a lot of work done before most other people arrive for the day.
