SHALALA ANNOUNCES VICE PRESIDENT OF ENROLLMENTS
Paul
M. Orehovec, who has served as Vice Provost and Dean
of Enrollments, has been named Vice President of Enrollments.
In his new role, he will oversee a newly created area,
the Divisions of Enrollments and Continuing Studies.
The new divisions will comprise enrollment management,
undergraduate admissions, financial aid, international
admission, student employment, registration and records,
and market research, as well as continuing studies,
study abroad programs, intensive languages, and certificate

LAST CHANCE TO VERIFY YOUR INFORMATION ON NEW WEB DIRECTORY
Faculty
and staff have one last chance to check their contact
information before the new Web directory goes live on
Wednesday, May 7. Visit http://www.miami.edu/TEST/department_search/,
select the Basic People Search option, enter your first
and last names, hit search, and then click on your name
to read the details. If there is an error, click on
the orange "Update Personal Information" link
that appears lower on the page. This test site will
be available for faculty and staff to verify their listings

HONORS DAY CONVOCATION SET FOR THURSDAY
The
Honors Program encourages faculty and teaching staff
to attend the 23rd annual Honors Day Convocation, 2:30
p.m., Thursday, May 8, in the Convocation Center.

required) or sit in the audience. A reception will follow.

SPEAK
TEST FOR INTERNATIONAL TEACHING ASSISTANTS SCHEDULED
The
SPEAK test, required for prospective International Teaching
Assistants (ITA's) to demonstrate ability in spoken
English, will be given at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20,
in room 102 of Allen Hall. Registration is required
by Friday, May 16, and should be sent to Sarah
Ballinger. Include your name, department, and Social
Security number. All test takers must bring photo identification
(passport or Cane Card) with them on the day of the

EMPLOYEE
PARKING INFORMATION FOR COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
A
new UM tradition begins next Friday,
May 9, when the Spring 2003 Commencement
Ceremonies will be held in the Convocation
Center. It is estimated that approximately
16,000 parents and guests will visit our
campus throughout the course of the day
to participate in one of the four ceremonies.
Due to the high parking demand expected,
the Ponce and Pavia Garages will be restricted
to commencement parking only. Employees
who use the Pavia Garage for parking will
be directed to the Mahoney/Pearson Garage.
Although the garage is a short distance
from Stanford Circle, an express shuttle
will be operated between Mahoney/Pearson
and Stanford Circle between 7:30 and 9 a.m.,
and again between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Employees
who use the Ponce Garage will be accommodated
in the Brescia and Scodella Lots. An express
shuttle will run between the Scodella and
Brescia Lots and the Ponce Garage during
the same hours as listed above.

The
Judaic Studies Program and the Sue and Leonard Miller
Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies hosts a lunch
and learn event, Israel and the Middle East after
Saddam, with Menachem Hofnung, 12 to 1:30 p.m.,
Monday, May 12, in the main auditorium of the
Sue and Leonard Miller Center. Hofnung is the senior
lecturer in political science and director of the Joint
Graduate Program in Public Policy and Law at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem. The event and lunch are free,

OF SUPERVISION ESSENTIAL FOR NEW MANAGERS,

Fundamentals of Supervision course consists of

SCHOOL
OF MUSIC CAMPS
The
deadline for completed scholarship applications
for the Young Musicians' Camp at the School
of Music has been extended to Thursday,
May 15. The Young Musicians' Camp is
a four-week summer camp for beginning to
advanced instrumentalists and vocalists,
ages 7 to 16, Monday, June 30, through
Friday, July 25. Students participate
in a variety of musical activities, including
chamber music, small jazz group, composition,
band, computer, studio recording, improvisation,
steel drum ensemble, musical theater, creative
movement, and instrumental ensembles. During
the week of Monday, July 21, jazz
vocalist and violinist Nicole Yarling, who
has recorded and performed with Jimmy Buffett
and Joe Williams, among others, will be
