TO BE DELIVERED

Personal Benefits Statements for 2003 are being delivered via interoffice mail. Your statement includes personalized information on each of the benefit plans provided by the University, including an estimate of the University's contribution to benefit programs and the amount of value these programs add to your total compensation. Employees should review their statement and keep it for future reference.


WELLNESS CENTER OFFERS SALSA CLASSES

The Wellness Center offers instruction in beginner and intermediate salsa dance. The classes cost $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers. The intermediate class begins Monday, June 30, and beginner class starts Tuesday, July 1. To register, visit the Wellness Suite located on the second floor of the Wellness Center. Questions? TEAM WORKS TO IMPROVE ACCOUNTING SERVICES

MOVIE EXAMINES CUBA'S INFAMOUS PRISONS

The Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies presents the movie Presidio -- The Trip Back, 2:30 p.m., everyday this month at Casa Bacardi. The film is a personal story of one exile's return to Cuba's infamous historical prisons, La Cabaña and El Presidio, to document and honor the men and women that endured Castro's political prisons. Admission to Casa Bacardi is $5, but is free to UM students, faculty, and staff with identification. For more information, call 305-284-2822.

The Alumni Association is offering an exclusive UM Lancaster Italy Watch for $250, with all proceeds benefiting the Alumni Association. LATIN AMERICAN FILM SERIES TO SHOWCASE NEW FILM

The School of Communication and the Motion Picture Association-Latin America present the film Bufo & Spallanzani, 8 p.m., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 27, 28 and 29, at the Bill Cosford Cinema. The film, part of the Latin American Film Series 2003, is a thriller about a detective in a Pan-American insurance company investigating the case of a landowner who dies shortly after taking out a $1 million insurance policy. LEARN THE ESSENTIALS OF PROJECT 2002

The NGJ Information Systems Institute offers a one-day class in Project 2002, Tuesday, July 8. The class covers not only the basics of the program, but also emphasizes the reporting functions of this popular package. In addition to this session, NGJ also will offer an advanced Project 2002 class later in the summer. Cost is $250, which includes a book and refreshments. EYEWEAR SAVINGS WITH BASCOM PALMER’S 20/20 VISION CLUB

Optical Services at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute offers exclusive membership to the 20/20 Vision Club for UM/Jackson employees, students, and immediate family members. All club members pay only $20 for lenses (single-vision or bifocal) and $20 for frames. In addition, club members enjoy up to 50 percent discounts on specialty lenses and designer frames. AQUATICS SPORTS CAMP

Randy Ableman, head diving coach, will offer the Cane Aquatics Sports Camp at the Whitten Student Center Outdoor Pool, 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., for seven one-week sessions ending on Friday, July 25. Instruction will be given in the areas of swimming, springboard diving, and trampoline for children ages five to 12. Other programs include swim lessons, swim team for children and adults, and diving camp and lessons. Cost is $160 per week, discounts are available, and a registration fee is required. WEB DESIGN FOR TEENAGERS

The Computer and Technology Group is offering a three-week Web design course for teenagers through Thursday, July 3. The course teaches students how to design, create, animate, and launch professional Web sites for their friends, classmates, and family. Cost is $395 per week. SOCCER CAMPS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Women's soccer head coach Tricia Taliaferro and the UM soccer staff are offering summer camps for both girls and boys. SCHOOL OF MUSIC OFFERS MULTIPLE CAMPS FOR ALL AGES

  • The Young Musicians' Camp is a four-week summer camp for beginning to advanced instrumentalists and vocalists, ages 7 to 16, Monday, June 30, through Friday, July 25. Students will participate in a variety of musical activities, including chamber music, small jazz group, composition, band, computer, studio recording, improvisation, steel drum ensemble, musical theater, creative movement, and instrumental ensembles. During the week of Monday, July 21, jazz vocalist and violinist Nicole Yarling, who has recorded and performed with Jimmy Buffett and Joe Williams, among others, will be the guest artist in residence.   • Designed for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children (ages 4 1/2 to 6 years old), the camp runs 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11, and Monday, July 14, through Friday, July 18. Instruction will integrate a number of music and art activities to increase the child's awareness of the natural environment. A snack will be provided each day. HURRICANE VOLLEYBALL CAMP

The 2003 Hurricane Volleyball Day Camp runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, at the Knight Sports Center. The camp, for kids ages 10 to 18 years old, offers each athlete the opportunity to develop the fundamentals of the game. The cost is $250, and employees receive a $25 discount. UM ROWING TEAM OFFERS CAMP FOR ADULTS

Learn to row on the beautiful Miami Beach waterways this summer at the Shane Watersports Center Summer Rowing Camps for Adults. All sessions are taught by UM rowing team staff. Learn the basics of rowing, and by the end of the two-week camp, you'll be able to row in a shell as part of a crew with other campers.
