RENOVATION
FORCES RELOCATION OF SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS
The
third floor of the Max Orovitz Building will be undergoing
a renovation during the next four months, and all offices
on that floor will be temporarily relocated. Debi Markland
(P-Card Manager) will be relocating to the fifth floor
of the Plumer Building, and the following offices will
be relocating to trailers behind the Facilities Administration
building during the week of Monday, July 14:

All

the same. Because of space limitations, visits to the

LEARN
ABOUT EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY AT FACULTY CAMP
Faculty,
instructors, and lecturers are invited to attend TechnoCamp
2003, Monday through Thursday, July 28 to 31,
a free summer camp where you'll learn ways to use educational
technology to enhance instruction. The camp is for beginning
to intermediate technology users, and runs 10 a.m. to

CENTER FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT OFFERS DEVELOPMENTAL EVALUATION
SERVICES
The
Interdisciplinary Developmental Evaluation Services
(I.D.E.S.) at the Mailman Center for Child Development,
within the Department of Pediatrics, offers a team approach
to diagnosing children who have difficulties with learning,
speaking, motor coordination, communicating, or social
adaptation. Common conditions include reading disorders
(dyslexia), ADHD, mental retardation, hearing or vision
deficits, autism, emotional disorders, and speech or

in a Research Study and are they Covered by UM's Assurance?,

BOBBY
McFERRIN TO PERFORM AT SCHOOL OF LAW FUNDRAISER
Multiple
Grammy Award-winning artist Bobby McFerrin will perform
with the Chamber Orchestra of Hope in a benefit concert,
7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Gusman Concert
Hall. The performance will benefit the School of Law's
H.O.P.E. (Helping Others through Pro Bono Efforts) program
in which more than 300 students dedicate themselves
to community projects for the homeless, children, immigrants,
the environment, and more. Tickets are $100 for VIP
seating and a private reception with the artist, $60,
or $40, and can be ordered by calling 305-372-2975.

NEW
VERSION OF POWERTERM AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
A
new version of PowerTerm, PowerTerm PRO Enterprise 8.8.0,
has been posted on the Information Technology Web site.
Features include SSL/SSH connectivity with up to 128
bit encryption, Microsoft VBA scripting language, and
more. To download the new version, visit http://www.miami.edu/it
and click on the "Updated PowerTerm Download"
link in the "Related Web sites" section. Don't
forget to uninstall older versions of PowerTerm before
installing the new version, and to download both PowerTerm
PRO and the PowerTerm PRO configuration files. If you

SPORTS CAMP
Randy
Ableman, head diving coach, will offer the
Cane Aquatics Sports Camp at the Whitten
Student Center Outdoor Pool, 9 a.m. to 4:15
p.m., for seven one-week sessions ending
on Friday, July 25. Instruction will
be given in the areas of swimming, springboard
diving, and trampoline for children ages
five to 12. Other programs include swim
lessons, swim team for children and adults,
and diving camp and lessons. Cost is $160
per week, discounts are available, and a

VOLLEYBALL CAMP
The
2003 Hurricane Volleyball Day Camp runs
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, July 28,
through Friday, August 1, at the
Knight Sports Center. The camp, for kids
ages 10 to 18 years old, offers each athlete
the opportunity to develop the fundamentals
of the game. The cost is $250, and employees
receive a $25 discount. A $100 deposit is

REMINDERS
- School
of Communication professor Ron Mangravite, who also
writes theater reviews for the New Times newspapers
in South Florida, is directing a multimedia production
of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, Thursday,
July 17, through Sunday, July 27, at the
On The Boards Theatre in Dania Beach, 56 North Federal
Highway. Mangravite has set the tale of sexual blackmail,
political corruption, and media manipulation in a
