WIDE
LEFT! UM BEATS FSU, EARNS FIRST EVER
FLORIDA CUP
Homecoming was sweet success for the
'Canes as they knocked off cross state
rival FSU 28-27 before a sold-out crowd
at the Orange Bowl. With one second
left on the clock, it once again came
down to a field goal attempt by FSU
to win the game -- but instead on the
wide right we're used to, it sailed
wide left. Saturday's victory, combined
with UM's win over the Florida Gators
back in September, the 'Canes are the
owners of the inaugural Florida Cup.
The Cup is given to the overall winner
of the UM, FSU and UF series. For highlights
and reports on the big win, visit the
UM
Athletics Web site. The 'Canes are
off this week before traveling to Morgantown,
West Virginia for a BIG EAST match-up
against the Mountaineers of West Virginia
University on Saturday, October 26.
HURRICANE VOLLEYBALL FACES CROSS
TOWN RIVAL F.I.U.
The
UM volleyball team's nation-leading
win streak of 26 matches may have come
to an end last week when they were upset
by Georgetown in Washington, DC, but
the team is ready to get back to its
winning ways. The 'Canes play Florida
International University at the Knight
Sports Complex, 7 p.m., Wednesday,
October 16. Tickets can be purchased
at the Hecht Athletic Center or by calling
1-800-G0-CANES. For more information
