the last game of the regular season Saturday, December
7, at the Orange Bowl against the Hokies of Virginia
Tech. Kickoff is at 1 p.m., but if you can't make it
in person, it will air nationally on ABC-TV. A win sends

SUPPORT
CANCER RESEARCH WITH
A WALK DOWN THE PATH OF LIGHT
Students from the Schools of Engineering
and Architecture will team up with staff at the UM Sylvester
Comprehensive Cancer Center on Tuesday, December

reflect while walking through a labyrinth of luminaries
designed by students. It is a beautiful and touching
scene, and it is also an important opportunity for participants
to support cancer research. President Donna E. Shalala
will join UM/Sylvester medical director Dr. W. Jarrard
Goodwin at the event, which will begin at 5 p.m. in
the UM/Sylvester courtyard on the School of Medicine

Edelle
Field-Fote, Ph.D.,
assistant professor of physical therapy
and investigator at The Miami Project
to Cure Paralysis
Current research: We pioneered
a method of training that combines body
weight supported treadmill walking with
electrical stimulation to assist with
stepping, and we're comparing it with
other training methods to see which best
improves walking in people with spinal
cord injury.
Most
rewarding about your job: Seeing the
difference that improved function can
make in people's lives. It's rewarding
to be able to give them confidence to
move forward and make a difference in
their quality of life.
Current
reading: I mostly read scientific
journals, but I also just finished It's
Not About the Bike, by Lance Armstrong.
CDs
currently listening to: Anything
by Michael Tomlinson. I mostly like folk
or jazz music.
Dream
vacation: The Australian Outback for
hiking, and diving on the Great Barrier
Reef.
Way
to start your day: I have some oatmeal
for breakfast and then feed my son, who's
one-and-a-half years old. I make an effort
to run in the morning, but sometimes it
has to wait until I get home in the evening.
