Fourth annual UM Family Night with the Marlins set for September 12
Willy Chirino at special post-game concert - Ticket distribution starts next week
Last year’s event attracted 17,000 UM employees and family members—and this year’s event promises to be even more spectacular.
In appreciation of the University’s outstanding faculty and staff, who have done so much to help the institution weather the challenges of the past year, the president and provost will be hosting the Fourth Annual University of Miami Family Night with the Marlins on Saturday, September 12 at Land Shark Stadium. As an added bonus, there will be a special post-game concert featuring Willy Chirino, the internationally renowned singer who has released more than 20 albums and is considered one of the fathers of the “Miami Sound” and the master of “Miami salsa.”
This year’s event, which will feature the Marlins taking on the Washington Nationals, will also include lots of great pre-game festivities and a post-game fireworks display. The game will start at 6:10 p.m. and the pre-game activities will begin at 4:10 p.m. at Gate D. The first 15,000 fans admitted will receive a Marlins body flag.
Each regular employee, as well as contract employees, can receive one complimentary ticket and purchase up to three additional tickets for $1 each. If you wish to obtain more than three guest tickets, additional tickets are $7 each. Children 2 years old and younger do not require tickets. Each employee and their first three guests will also receive a complimentary meal voucher for a hot dog, chips, and soda.
You must have a valid ’Canes Card (UM ID) to receive your tickets; only one ID card per person will be permitted and you cannot bring anyone else’s ID to purchase tickets for them. You can only receive tickets at a single ticket distribution session; you cannot go multiple times. Cash only for all ticket purchases. This year the University has secured a larger allotment of lower-level seats, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, when you pick up your tickets you will be registered in a raffle to win:
- an opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the game;
- autographed and game-used Marlins memorabilia;
- VIP pit passes to watch Willy Chirino perform from the field;
- and much more!
Ticket distribution will begin on Wednesday, July 22 and will continue on multiple dates thereafter:
Coral Gables Campus: Wednesday, July 22, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Richter Library (University Green side), Gables One Tower-Suite 1230, and Cobb Stadium. Wednesday, August 12 and Monday, August 24, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Richter Library (University Green side).
Miller School Campus: Friday, July 24, Friday, August 14, and Wednesday, August 19, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Schoninger Quadrangle.
Rosenstiel School Campus: Monday, July 27, and Monday, August 10, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Dean’s Office second-floor breezeway.
University of Miami Hospital: Thursday, July 30, 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the Seminar Center.
