Presidential Candidate Barack Obama at
BankUnited Center on Friday

Tickets No Longer Available; UMTV to broadcast event

U.S. Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic candidate for president of the United States, will make a campaign appearance on Friday, September 19 at the BankUnited Center on the University’s Coral Gables campus.

Tickets are no longer available for this rally, which is open to the general public and is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. However, you may view the event on a live broadcast on UMTV, available throughout the Coral Gables campus on cable channel 96, and at the Bill Cosford Cinema (2nd floor Memorial Building) and at Shoma Hall (room 3053 in the School of Communication International Building). UMTV will also have a live feed of the event on their Web page at umtv.miami.edu/site/live.php.

Traffic in the vicinity of the BankUnited Center is expected to be heavy from early in the morning through the afternoon. Due to the number of visitors on campus, some parking lots will be closed or restricted. The Serpentine Lot will close on Thursday evening and remain closed until after the event. More information on restrictions to University parking and traffic conditions during this event is forthcoming.

Employees interested in attending the broadcast of the event at Cosford Cinema or Shoma Hall must obtain authorization from their supervisors and must use accrued vacation or floating holiday time to attend. Based on operational needs of the department, it is at the discretion of supervisors to permit employees to attend.
