With the fourth-largest public school district in the country and a wide choice of K-12 private secular and parochial schools, education is a key priority in Miami-Dade County. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) have more than 370,000 students, and nearly 60 percent of graduates plan to continue their education.

The Miami-Dade school district is pursuing progressive reforms, moving aggressively to strengthen education at all levels. MDCPS boasts the largest magnet school program in the United States, with Schools of Choice providing specialized themes of study from architecture to zoology. There are 57 charter schools under contract with the school district, offering innovative programs at various levels. 

The Broward County School District, just north of Miami-Dade County and all of the University campuses, includes 273 schools serving the educational needs of more than 260,000 K-12 students, and is the nation’s sixth-largest school district. It offers 63 innovative Magnet Programs at 47 elementary, middle, and high schools, and has 45 charter schools at different levels.
