Daniel Mongeon - Beltsville, MD, USA

I came to the lab to get a better understanding of what it takes to be a shark biologist and see if I want to do this as a career. I will be here for three months.

Abby Nease - Kansas City, Missouri, USA

I had heard about this from a friend and thought it would be an awesome step towards my dream. I love the ocean and being able to spend everyday in it and learn new things each day is just an amazing opportunity to have. I will be here until December.

Maurits van Zinnicq Bergmann - Groningen, Netherlands

I am here to fulfill my dream of becoming a marine biologist, specializing in sharks-in particular the White shark. I consider the BBFS as a valuable first step in achieving my dream. I will be here for six months.

Alex Brew - Horsham, UK

After graduating university at Cardiff I wanted to get some hands on experience in research to start my career. I am staying at the lab for four months.

Lauren Porter - Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

After volunteering for one month in 2011, I realised quickly that it wouldn't be long enough to fully experience the Sharklab. I have returned to volunteer for four months in the hope of getting a real look at live-action, well renowned shark research.

Kelsey Evans - Mechanicsburg, PA, USA

I have been considering shark research as a career for years now and I wanted to see first hand if it is for me. It has been the best experience of my life (and it has only been a week). I'll be staying for two months.

Natalia Smith - Miami, FL, USA

I came to learn about tropical ecology of the Bahamian Islands and its native sharks. I am also considering possible theses for grad school as well as potential grad programs. I will be here for one month.

John Pierce - Hatfield, PA, USA

I took a shark physiology class here last summer and fell in love with the lab, the island, and the sharks! I want to get some more hands-on experience before applying to graduate school. I will be here for one month.

Alex Hansell - Newton, MA, USA

I came to the sharklab to gain field experience and to learn more about sharks. I will be here for four months.

Lauren Van Woudenberg - Wall, NJ, USA

I'm interested in studying shark population genetics for conservation. I'm currently applying to graduate schools for this but I wanted more hands on shark experience first. I will be here for three months.
