The Student Organization Achievement & Recognition (SOAR) Awards


 



The Student Organization Achievement & Recognition (SOAR) Awards recognize the accomplishments of student organizations at the University. The annual awards ceremony will be held this year on the evening of Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

Soar Award Nomination Forms are due on Monday, March 24 at 5PM to the Smith-Tucker Involvement Center (UC 209 - STIC). Please make sure to download the Nomination Instructions and read thoroughly before downloading and returning any of the Soar Award Nomination forms listed below.

Organization of the Year
Recognizes the student organization that has had the most impact on the University and the community.  The winner receives an award and a $300 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Best New Organization
Recognizes the new student organization that has had the most impact on the University during its first year on campus.  The winner receives an award and a $200 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Most Improved Organization
Recognizes the student organization that has demonstrated the most significant change in both their membership and activities.  The winner receives an award and a $200 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Most Spirited Organization 
Recognizes the student organization that best displays spirit for its organization and the University.  The winner receives an award and a $200 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Excellence in Programming
Recognizes the student organizations that excel in coordinating a specific event or program in the following categories - Awareness/Educational, Community Service, Cultural, Innovative, Performance, and COSO’s Choice.  The winner in each category receives an award and a $100 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Best Web Page
Recognizes the student organization with the most impressive web site.  The winner receives an award and a $100 bonus towards next year’s funding allocation.

Student Leader of the Year
Recognizes the student who has had the most impact on the University and the community. The winner receives an award.

Silent Inspiration
Recognizes the student that puts their heart and soul into everything they do, but often goes unrecognized.  The winner receives an award.

Advisor of the Year
Recognizes the advisor that best encourages and supports a student organization and its members.  The winner receives an award.

Deadline to apply: Monday March 24, 2008 by 5pm

Date of SOAR Awards 2008 Ceremony: April 15, 2008
Program will be held at the Westin Colonnade Hotel
Invitations for the SOAR Awards 2008 Ceremony will be available on Monday, March 31st and will require a $5 non-refundable deposit per invitation.
