Health Disparities and Minority Health research explores population and epidemiologic research in the quality of health care across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines. Patient Safety
Patient Safety includes the prevention of healthcare errors and the elimination or mitigation of patient injury caused by healthcare errors, according to the National Patient Safety Foundation. An increasingly important area of health research, Patient Safety is of vital importance to patients and healthcare providers alike. Patient safety research at the school concentrates on infection control, health care worker safety, protective gear, gloving practices, HIV/AIDS and patient safety issues with medical devices, and improving health care worker safety and nursing education through high-fidelity human patient simulation.
