PhD Program in Nursing

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Nursing science is one of the most exciting fields of study today. As a PhD student at the University of Miami you will work with leading nurse scientists to develop a program of study focused on multidisciplinary, evidence-based research in one of the following areas:  Health Disparities and Minority Health, HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases, Family and Maternal/Neonatal Health, and Patient Safety.

Miami’s multi-ethnic population base and the school’s close affiliation with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, the University of Miami Hospital, and the Jackson Health System offer unique opportunities for collaborative research.  By translating research into practice, doctoral nursing students at UM help to shape the future of health care.

The School offers two programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Nursing, the 40-credit hour MSN to PhD Program and the 61-credit BSN to PhD Program.
