Nursing Scholars Program: Accelerated BSN

General Information

The University of Miami Accelerated BSN program is designed for individuals who hold undergraduate degrees in fields other than nursing. The streamlined curriculum enables students to earn a baccalaureate degree in nursing in 12 months. Students who graduate from the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX). Tuition for the 55-credit program is currently $39,000.00.

Nursing Scholars Program

The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is committed to providing educational and employment opportunities for individuals interested in the nursing profession. Through its Nursing Scholarship Program, the Miller School provides full tuition plus a stipend for books for students in the Accelerated BSN program. Students selected to receive scholarships commit to full-time employment at the UHealth-Miller School of Medicine Hospital System for a consecutive thirty-six month period following their graduation. Employment opportunities are available at:

  • Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

Eligibility Requirements


  • Be admitted to the School of Nursing
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the School of Nursing
  • Have and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 Grade Point Average
  • Graduate and achieve state or national licensure or certification applicable to field

Application Process


  • Applications can be submitted at the time of acceptance to the Accelerated BSN Program.
  • Scholarship applications will be pre-selected by the Nursing Scholarship Program Selection Committee of the University of Miami Health System/Miller School of Medicine. All candidates will be notified prior to the start of the semester of the decision.
  • All required documents must be submitted together with the scholarship application. Applications will not be accepted if required documents are not included.
