Nurse Faculty Loan Program

HRSA-07-NFLP

CFDA 93.264

Applications due June 22, 2007

The Nurse Faculty Loan Program provides funds to eligible schools of
nursing that offer advanced education nursing programs to prepare graduates
to serve as faculty in a school of nursing. The schools use the funds to
establish distinct NFLP fund accounts or add to existing NFLP fund
accounts. The NFLP fund must provide for loans made to students enrolled
full-time in an eligible advanced degree program in nursing (master's or
doctoral) at the school.

Loan recipients must complete the education program and, following
graduation, may cancel up to 85% of the NFLP loan over a consecutive 4-year
period while serving as full-time nurse faculty at a school of nursing.

Approximately $4,600,000 is available in FY 2007 to fund an estimated 115
NFLP schools. The award amount to each school is determined by calculating
the school's tuition multiplied by the number of continuing NFLP students
committed for support plus a select number of new students

This Program Announcement describes the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)
authorized by Section 846A (42 U.S.C. 297n-1) of the Public Health Service
Act, as amended by the Health Professions Education Partnership Act of
1998, Public Law 105-392 (42 USC 294c(c)).
