Guiding Principles:

The purpose of FSA is to:

  • Promote the unity, culture, and heritage of the Philippines and Filipino-Americans.

  • Promote the welfare of its members

  • Provide a positive social atmosphere for all FSA members

  • Encourage participation in volunteer work for the community

Objectives:

The objectives of FSA are to provide an outlet by which the University of Miami can experience the culture, unity, and heritage of the Philippines through ethnic dance, food, guest speakers, etc. and provide a social atmosphere for its members through Kuya/Ate social programs and community service.

Membership:

Membership of FSA shall be open to all University of Miami students in good academic standing who have paid their Student Activity Fee.  FSA shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, handicap, age, sexual orientation, or political and religious affiliation in any of its policies, procedures, or practices.  Non-voting memberships may be extended to interested faculty, administrators, staff members, and alumni of the University.

Active membership in FSA is defined as those students who pay their membership dues each year and attend at least two meetings and one event per semester, 

Benefits of active membership include right to vote, run for office, and perform with Mag ka Isa.
