NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship
Who: Sophomores
(Juniors ONLY if in a 5-year program)
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Pay: ~$22500

We currently have two Hollings Scholars in the club, Matt (2008) and Ken (2009), who can answer questions about the scholarship.
The scholarship provides an $8000 stipend per academic year and a summer internship between junior and senior year with $6500 pay at any NOAA facility.
All majors in atmospheric, marine, or related sciences are encouraged to apply.
Over 100 Hollings Scholarships are awarded each year, and UM has had a Meteorology major awarded the scholarship three years in a row.

Similar to the Hollings Scholarship, EPP focuses on candidates attending Minority Serving Institutions.
The scholarship provides an $8000 stipend per academic year and a summer internship between junior and senior year with $6500 pay at any NOAA facility.
All majors in atmospheric, marine, or related sciences who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.
Between 10 and 20 EPP scholarships are awarded each year.

American Meteorological Society Undergraduate Scholarships
Who: Juniors
Minimum GPA: 3.25
Pay: $1000-$3000
Deadline: February 5, 2010

UM students have done well in the past getting these scholarships as well.
They are endowed by many weather organizations and companies from around the country.

American Meteorological Society Graduate Fellowships
Who: Seniors Entering Graduate School
Minimum GPA: 3.25
Pay: $23000
Deadline: February 5, 2010

One current graduate student at RSMAS is currently funded by AMS fellowships, and two have gone to the University of Washington from UM in the past few years!

NWA
National Weather Association Undergraduate Scholarships
Who: Sophomores and Above
Minimum GPA: n/a
Pay: $1000
Deadline: April 2010
|
Four different scholarships awarded annually.
Become an NWA member if interested or you probably won't get one.
Students may be asked to present a research project at the annual National Weather Association Conference.

University of Miami
Computer Science and Mathematics for Scientists
Who: Everyone
Minimum GPA: 2.5 within Mathematics/Computer Science
Pay: $10000/year
Deadline: Varies (See Website)

By taking Computer Science or Mathematics as a second major, successful applicants are offered a scholarship of up to $10000 per school year.
The timeline for funding may be limited, so the sooner you contact Dr. Sutcliffe or Dr. Pestien the better.
Funded by the National Science Foundation.
