Now entering our 28th year as a student organization, UMCSA has become a dearly beloved, strong, and vibrant group of passionate young people, all of whom are dedicated to spreading knowledge and awareness of all aspects of Caribbean life throughout our campus and community. It has become a home away from home for many generations of Caribbean students, both nationals and descendants, as well as the leading educating entity at UM on the 7000 islands and 27 territories of the West Indies.

UMCSA has long-standing relationships with several other professional and student organisations. The Council of International Students and Organisations at UM is our umbrella organization. This relationship has afforded us several invaluable opportunities to share our objectives and principles with the international student community, as well as with the wider campus community. Every year, we take part in COISO-sponsored events, including International Week and the celebration of United Nations Day. We are also a member of the Florida Caribbean Students' Association, a relationship which allows our members amazing networking, business and social opportunities, including statewide conferences.

Our theme for this year is "What's in Your Blood?" The Executive Board has made a conscious decision to forge ameliorated relationships with other organisations, through encouraging a realization of racial, ethnical, and cultural interconnectedness. We encourage all our members and prospective members to embrace all aspects of their heritage and culture, in respect for their true and complete identities as developing individuals. Therefore, all our events this year, from our highly anticipated and elegant pageant, to our educational forums and even our parties, will be focused upon encouraging people to recognize what is present in their blood.

UMCSA means the world to me. My heart, my soul, and my passion are all invested in this organization. I know that many of our officers and members feel the same way.
