Spring 2002 ACTIVITES
Speakers - Ms. Bertha M. Goldenberg, P.E., is the Chief of Planning, Permitting, and Efficiency for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department.
This presentation will give an overview of current water and wastewater issues that the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department is currently addressing. Current issues include future water supply, groundwater under the direct influence of surface water, treatment for disinfection by-products, water conservation, aquifer storage and recovery, wastewater peak flow disposal and treatment, use of deep injection wells, and wastewater reuse. Topics such as how can wastewater be reused in Southeast Florida, potential health and engineering issues with wastewater reuse, and connections between Miami-Dade water and wastewater planning and the Everglades restoration will be highlighted.
